Great Investment
Purchased these batteries back in 2019 and it has worked great. We have 4 Prius cars and now I need another kit for one of my other cars. I had such good results from the first one that I'm confident that I'll have good results from the second one for the other car

Excellent product at a fair price. I was able to do the job on my 2005 Prius in 5.5 hour start to finish. The instructions were comprehensive, and I ran into no issues. The batteries were very well packaged for shipping. And at $1600 shipped with no sales tax added, an excellent value. With reselling of the old Toyota batteries my total cost was $1375 for what is essentially a brand new battery pack that I should expect to see many years of service. The fact that it has a warranty similar to what Toyota offers on a replacement pack, this deal is an absolute no brainer.

Works well!
2004 Prius, sat on driveway for 2 years. We had some issues after installation but I found some corrosion on the control board which cleared up the issue and the new battery began charging. There was some copper corrosion on the pins inside the connection point of the charge controller. The old battery had lots of corrosion too, the rear window was leaking water which lead to the old battery death. So far the new battery has 2000 miles on it, vehicle has scored as high as 48 MPG.

So far, so good!
Installed it yesterday with minimal issues. I’ve driven about 50 miles with absolutely no problems. My only suggestion would be to email the instructions immediately after someone purchases the battery. It was a little frustrating to realize I needed to order some insulated gloves the day before the battery was delivered. Otherwise, great product and great experience for me!

Wow, what an incredible product from these guys! I've never been a "car guy" but when you're faced with the price options of a mechanic fixing your battery, or buying a new one and doing it yourself, you end up becoming a car guy. With the help of their extensive and informative instruction manual, in addition to a youtube video, something that would have cost over $3200 was now half of that- and probably the same amount of time too. I learned a lot about my vehicle and gained a lot of confidence in being able to dismantle and reassemble such a vital part of my life. Overall, with 2 guys it took us about 5 hours, no mishaps, no explosive fiery deaths. Great product, thanks so much! -Brandon

Signs your hybrid battery is failing.

A hybrid pack rarely dies all at once. One weak module drags the rest down, and the car tells you in a few predictable ways.

  1. 01A warning light and a battery code The red triangle appears with code P0A80, "replace hybrid battery pack".
  2. 02The charge gauge jumps aroundIt swings from full to nearly empty in minutes instead of moving slowly.
  3. 03The engine never restsIt runs at stop lights and low speed, and fuel economy drops by 5 to 10 mpg or more.
  4. 04Weak or jerky accelerationThe electric assist fades on hills and highway merges, or the car shudders when the engine kicks in.

New, rebuilt or used. Know what you are buying.

Many "replacement" hybrid batteries are reconditioned packs or modules pulled from salvage cars. Ours are not.

Full product details

Description

A complete, brand-new hybrid battery for your Toyota Prius (2004 to 2009). Every cell is new NiMH with zero miles. Not refurbished, not rebuilt, and not pulled from a wrecked car.

Built stronger than the original

  • 14 new cylindrical NiMH modules (14.4 V each, 201.6 V total). Your original pack uses 28 small modules, so there are half as many connections to work loose.
  • Numbered and matched. Modules are tested, matched and numbered before they ship, so they go back in the right order and wear evenly.

When to replace your Toyota Prius battery

  • The red triangle warning is on and the car stores code P0A80 (replace hybrid battery pack)
  • The battery gauge swings quickly between full and empty
  • The engine runs far more than it used to and fuel economy drops

Hybrid batteries usually fail one weak module at a time. Once one goes, the rest are close behind, so replacing the whole pack with new cells is the fix that lasts.

Why new instead of rebuilt or used

  • Brand new, zero miles. Rebuilt packs reuse old modules that are already ageing. Used packs come out of wrecked or high-mileage cars. Ours are new cells, so the whole pack starts its life the day you install it.
  • Keep your car's own electronics. You reuse your original battery case, battery computer, fans and wiring junction, parts you know have not been abused, instead of trusting a pack that came out of a junkyard car.
  • No core charge. Keep or recycle your old modules.

What's in the box

  • New high-voltage wiring harness
  • Nickel-plated bus bars, temperature clips, bolts and terminal nuts

Fits

Toyota Prius 2nd generation, 2004 to 2009. Not for the Prius C or plug-in. Not sure? Email info@newpriusbatteries.com with your VIN.

Installation

Most owners or local shops finish the swap in an afternoon with basic hand tools and insulated gloves. You remove the old modules from the case, fit the new ones in order and refit the pack.

Shipping: pick the option that suits you at checkout

  • Free Shipping – duties included, about 30 days on average. Shipping, import duties and fees are all paid. Nothing to pay at the door.
  • Express – $150, about 5 days. Faster delivery. The carrier collects import duties and fees (usually about $100 to $200) when it arrives.

Good quality, worked like a charm!

Posted by Joel Gundy on Feb 8th 2021

The battery seems to be really good build quality, the wiring harness all strapped together pretty well with the plastic covers in end and looked pretty professional. My only complaint was that the batteries seemed numbered backwards compared to install videos I found online. Everything is up and running flawlessly now, zippier than ever.

Nice batteries, seems well made. The process of replacing the batteries is well documented. I would say most people that can handle a screw driver can do this. Be prepared that it will take some effort and time. I went slow. My question/concerns were answered within a day. I'd do this again.

    Great Investment

Posted by Daniel Williams on Feb 3rd 2021

Ordered these new batteries for my 2007 Prius. My hybrid battery was completely dead as it wasn't able to turn over the engine anymore after I let my prius sit for a long time without driving it. Granted it OEM battery was already on the way out. The batteries were shipped the next day I ordered and arrived on my doorstep in 3 days. Replaced all my old modules with these modules and BAM, once everything was put together the car fired right up. Before I changed my battery, I was getting roughly 43 MPG, and now I get 48 MPG and I live in the Tahoe basin area which is pretty mountainous. I intended on keeping my prius for the long haul so I see this as the best investment I could have had for my car, and now it drives great and delivers amazing MPG numbers. Highly recommend this battery if your prius battery is on its way out.
